MacDonald, Giroux Rule At Rideau

Driver John MacDonald and trainer Sebastien Giroux each enjoyed a productive evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday

MacDonald and Giroux started off on the right foot teaming up for a win in the card’s opener with Speedy Samadhi (2:00.2). The duo linked up again in Race 14 to win with Roi De Coeur Bg (2:00.3).

MacDonald, who visited the winner’s circle five times during the night, also scored in Race 2 with Libra Sun (2:00.1) for Pierre Demers, in Race 7 with Atomic Ideal (1:59.3) for Gerard Demers and in Race 11 with Sting Operation (2:02) for trainer Paul Smyth.

The resident of Russel, Ontario, who enjoyed a career best season in 2008, has recorded 22 wins this year. He is a winner of 1,280 races in his career with over $6.4 million in earnings.

Giroux also scored in Race 10 with Win Gaitor (1:59.2), driven to victory by Stephane Brosseau. The L’Ange-Gardien, Quebec horseman has recorded nine wins so far this year and 444 in his career with over $1.6 million in purse earnings.
