Swan Image made it three in a row on Friday night using some swift off-the-pace tactics in the $35,000 Invitational Trot at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

The six-year-old son of Balanced Image remained tucked in the four-hole until regular reinsman David Miller gave him the go ahead just before the :56.3 half put up by longshot Celebrity Playboy (Antonino Buttitta). The 6-1 second choice reached the front by three-quarters in 1:25.3 and unleashed a :28.2 final quarter to take the win by four and a half lengths. Swan Image stopped the clock in 1:54 for trainer Ross Croghan and owner Lawrence Roman, of Mt. Vernon, New York.

Likeabatoutahell (Brian Sears) came on for second while the early leader and fan favourite, American Lane (Cat Manzi), grabbed the show spot.

Swan Image picked up his 12th career win and lifted his bankroll to $334,027.
