It would be hard to blame trainer Josh Green and driver Ron Pierce for not wanting to see the Monday evening card at Dover Downs considering they had five wins apiece
.
Interestingly, the only time Pierce and Green teamed up to win was with Yes Hanover (1:52.1) in the ninth race.
Pierce’s other winners were Rare Bunny (1:55.4), P H Breakaway (1:52.1), Livestrong (1:52.2) and Caerleon Hanover (1:52.2).
Green enjoyed his five win performance thanks in part to scores with Herzon (1:54.2), Mattnifesto (1:53.3), Steeler (1:51.4) and Incredible Art (1:53.3).
Pierce figures to hit two major milestones – 7,000 career wins and $150 million in earnings - later this season. He current checks in with 6,815 victories and purses earnings in excess of $147 million.
Green, who put up career numbers for wins (287) and earnings ($4.5 million) in 2008 is off to a very quick start to his 2009 campaign. The resident of Harrington, Delaware, who is batting a .574 UTR this year, has watched 12 of his 24 starters hit the winner’s circle.
