There was one winner for Yonkers Raceway’s Friday night (Jan. 10) Pick 5 wager, taking home all the cheese to the tune of $20,047.
The gimmick, which began with a $4,371.03 carryover and $15,000 guaranteed pool, saw $20,903 of new investments.
The needed sequence 6/3/3/4/6 was bookended by 8-1 Reggiano (Jordan Stratton, $19.40) and 33-1 Uncle Leo (Austin Siegelman, $68).
As a reminder, Yonkers’ Pick 5 wager now encompasses races five through nine nightly, remaining a 50-cent base wager.
Friday night’s $27,000 feature for high-conditioned pacing mares had another certified bombardier in 60-1 The Charging Moa N (Jim Marohn Jr., $122). From post position No. 7, The Charging Moa N closed from fifth off the final turn to win by a neck in 1:53.1 as by far the longest shot on the board.
The ‘Leo-Moa’ late double returned $3,631 for the basic $2 wager.
The Raceway’s five-program-per-week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) offers a new first post of 7:05 p.m.
