Rideau Preferred To Imjustalittleguy

Imjustalittleguy finished the 2008 season on a winning note at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and it was more of the same in tonight’s 2009 debut for the Ted McDonald trainee.

McDonald worked out a dreamy pocket trip for the seven-year-old son of Armbro Operative in the Thursday evening assignment, and that was more than enough reason for the gelding to deliver as the odds-on favourite.

Imjustalittleguy tracked pacesetter Best Show In Town through splits of :27.2, :57.4 and 1:27.2 before pulling the pocket and using :28.2 final quarter speed to haul down his front-stepping foe.

Best Show In Town held on gamely to finish second, while Leader Bayama took home the show dough in the $12,100 Preferred Pace.

Lloyd Stone of Portland, ON holds the ownership papers on the 24-time winner, who upped his overall earnings to $183,547 with the win.
