Kirbi Pfannmuller is the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club’s ‘Heart of Harness Racing’ calendar photographer for March.
Kirbi’s photo of fillies Barona Mercedes and River Lass was taken at Bedrock Training Center in Beaumont, Alberta, where she works for trainer Kelly Hoerdt.
The two fillies were enjoying a little downtime in the paddock and Kirbi used the moment for a photo op.
“Photography has always captivated me. I always stop to watch a horse run and that particular morning was really quite pretty, it was a moment of opportunity,” says Pfannmuller, who was born in Edmonton and now makes Leduc County, Alberta, her home.
Kirbi, pictured here with Thats Extra, has been involved in the horse racing industry for over a decade; however something that sets her apart from the crowd is that she actually grooms on both the Standardbred and Thoroughbred circuit.
“A friend of mine brought me down to the Thoroughbred meet in Calgary and I instantly fell in love, I’ve been grooming in both breeds ever since,” she says.
