To Dan's Family & Friends,

So sorry to hear of your loss. We have a high regard for him, he was always kind, thoughtful, and helpful to us. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Regards.

It has been a privilege to have known Dan. He was a wonderful person, and horseman. His personality and kind heart will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to Darren and his family. Stay strong.

Dan'o I know I’m not actually talking to you when I right this message I guess it just makes me feel a little better. I went to your favorite restaurant yesterday and had wings we also played pool, it was so hard because all I could think of was when we would talk you into going to eat and you never wanted to but we always persuaded you to take us, we had so much fun you always smoked us!!! Every time I go to the barn I remember everything about you. All the fun we had... we also worked hard up there. I just miss your always happy face, well almost happy!!! You were a great friend to many but i think somehow I got especially close. When this happed I started to wish I wouldn’t’ have gotten so close because it is so hard. But then I wouldn’t have all the great memories. It’s going to be hard to tell you goodbye tomorrow but I know you look out for me. I wish we could have helped you Dan!!! Well anyways Love You

Please know our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this very difficult time. Darren, know that every time you harness a horse, go to the races, and even make it to the winners circle, your dad will be looking down with his huge, engulfing smile and be so very proud. Keep it going kiddo!!!!!!!

We were very sad to hear of the death of another great horseman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Your dearly missed Dan. I miss the smart remarks we made in the barn to one another it always made me smile,as this is what I'll think about as I race your horse tonight. You would be so proud of Darren for being so strong, which I will try to follow. As I commented days ago , there always lots to be said that you my friend Dominated saturday night on the track but a lifetime to your family and friends.I wish you more luck tonight and peace forever. It will be my honour to meet your family tomorrow but it will also bring much sorrow as I will have to say "farewell to my good friend". We miss you and love you Dan.

only talk to you once easy to tell you had a kind heart may GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY TILL WE MET AGAIN AT JESUS RETURN .

Dan...When I first met you we were once a week rivals (GQ Moment--Wahtaterrificfella)we battled for the colt stakes championship that year. No matter the out come of each race you always showed great sportsmanship. That is why you will always be known as a great friend to every one you thoched. I will miss seeing you and saying "hows Tan Dannyhill doing today?" My prayers are with you and your family

Your gracious smile will be sadly missed. Your thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of sorrow. Rest in peace!

Dan Tannyhill.....just a streight up good guy. I genuinlly enjoyed being around him as did so many others. He was a good freind to my family and me. Thinking of the future around the farm and at the track without Dan is sad. There are way too few guys like him in this world and I will miss him greatly. My prayers are with Rozz, Daniel, Darren, and Mathew.

I was shocked and deeply saddend by the news of Dans passing. Dan was always a respectful and joyous person to be around and I looked forward to visiting with him when he came North to race. His big laugh and smile will be missed by all. My condolences go out to the Taneyhill and although we cannot make it to the services our thoughts and prayers are with you.

If anyone has recent pictures of my brother Dan in the winners circle or other please send them to me at [email protected]. Thank you so much.

It warms my heart to know that my brother had so many friends at StandardBred. I wish there was an opportunity for me to attend a race with him over the past 4 years to meet everyone. I now understand why he loved racing at StandardBred. He did share a few stories so some of the names are familiar. If you get a chance to attend the calling hours / funeral at the Swartz Funeral Home (1225 West Hill Rd in Flint) on Wed, Thurs or Friday please introduce yourself. We loved him so much and appreciate all the kind words. God bless you.

This kind hearted man will be greatly missed.
Anyone who had the pleasure of being in his company knew what a great man he truly was.

I now know that life is way too short and as long as I live like you did I will have a wonderful life. Hang in there Darren, Daniel, Matt, and, Ross he was a great man and he will be missed.

You were always so good to all of us. You always had a way of making everyone around you smile. You had to be the most laid back man we knew, nothing ever seemed to bug you. It is unreal that we won't see you at the track anymore or hear your laugh or watch as you torcher Nikki and make us laugh. You were and always will be our favorite american competition -- you will be sincerely missed. Heart felt sympathy to Dan's wife and boys - you were blessed to have such a great man in your lives.

Dan was terrific horsemen, and an all around great guy. You will be missed greatly by your many friends. It was a pleasure having you as a friend for such a long time. Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family in this time of need.

Its always unfortunate when we lose a member of the racing community, but when we lose a guy like Dan, the loss is unspeakable. I know that Dan didn't have an enemy in the backstrtch. "Mr. Taneyhill" you will be very dearly missed. Your friend.

As we mourn the loss of a 'BIG HEARTED GUY' who gave us many words of wisdom, advice and a helping hand (even at 1:30 AM). He will never be forgotten. Our prayers go out to his wife and his boys. We send our deepest sympathy. He will be missed very much by all of us in the industry.

Dan will be sadly missed by us along with everyone that knew him. He was a great guy. Working with him in Windsor was always fun. He was the best boss anyone could ever ask for him. His booming voice and loud contagious laugh will be missed in the paddock for a long time to come. Our deepest sympathy to Dan's wife and boys.

R.I.P Mr. Dan Taneyhill!!

wishing my deepest sympathy wife and sons you will be missing has a great horseman i will see you updaire some day so we talk horses sincrely norm dessureault

Although it doesn't seem real the tears don't stop, if I had only known the hug you gave me last night was last one I would've never let go. It has been our pleasure to have known you and worked with you. Your big heart, your gentle hand and of course your wonderful words of wisdom are and have already been dearly missed. Are new years plans have come to rest, but are hearts are left broken. I wish your wife and family our deepest sympathy. You were a special man to both Mark and I and always very appreciated. My words can not express enough about the wonderful person I thought you were. I am very greatful for the picture and message you wrote me last week. May you my man Dan rest in peace and know that you will never be forgotten. Love Nikki and Mark

It's so hard to believe that Dan is no longer with us. Any and everyone that knew him, had nothing but good things to say about him. He was full of fun and loved to joke with the people at the track. He had a great love for his horses. Our hearts and prayers go out to Dan's wife and his sons. Hoping that you may find some comfort in the fact that Dan was thought so much of by all. With our deepest sympathy.

As a member of the younger generation in harness racing, I've always looked to the older generations for guidance and advice. Dan was a stand up guy who wouldn't think twice about lending a helping hand, or showing us 'young guns' a thing or two. (And believe me, he did)

There are no words that any one person can say to ease the pain of losing such a prominent member of the racing communuity; but the support of that same group can help to ease his passing, and bring closure to an enormous loss not only for the Taneyhill family; but the entire sport of Harness racing.

Here's to the great gig in the sky, Dan.

Dan will be missed by so many. He was a good horseman and a great man. I cannot express enough sympathy for his wife and three sons. You are all in our prayers. Take good care of each other and the horses that meant so much to him. God bless.

god bless
