Walter Case, Jr. Listed To Drive

While Walters crime affected his personal life more than anything else, I see no reason to allow this mistake to continually punish him forever.
I have read of drivers and trainers committing worse crimes against the harness sport, get slapped on the wrist and continue to operate in the sport.
I believe harness racing needs all the driving stars they can find. There is just too much mediocrity at most tracks.

I seen Walter make his first drive and said at the time he
had the hands and talent to be one of the best.I still feel
that way too.He did what he did and paid the price.Debt is paid.
So those negative people out there, stand aside and let him make
good use of his second chance at life.Of all the people in this
world that have done crimes(worse than Walter)and been given a
second chance,why should he not have that also.There have been
a few comments on what it is doing to the racing buisness by
allowing him back.If this were a know fact of being a damageing thing,
then perhaps someone should do a criminal check on the people that
come to the races.Wonder how many on that side of the fence have
records(or broke the law in someway) Are they any better or is this a case
of being on the wrong side of the fence.Instead of trying to knock him
out before he can prove himself,support him and if he fails, you can
be the ones to say"I Told You So"
Walter,as a fellow horseman and racing fan I say to you.
Dig those feet in and ignore the world and prove to everyone
especially yourself that you are worthy to get your life back.
Get those noses on the gate and do your stuff.. Got all the faith
in you. Your the only one that can do it .Best of luck pal.

How is the integrity of this sport ever going to improve and the public image we present. Just like any other sport, a felon, is allowed back to the sport just because of his previous fame....does this do justice to the sport of harness racing and the future of it's entity. There are plenty of honest, hardworking, good moral horsemen in the sport that are biding by the rules and more that would love to enter this sport and do great things for the image of harness racing. You allow a felon to come back to the sport, it further hurts the image of the industry that has suffered so greatly already and a truely lost a fan base. We should question the racing authorities having jurisdiction in governing our sport, "What are we doing to ourselves?" No, Walter Case should not be allowed back into the sport for the sake of all of harness racing and it's future.

I was checking and I didn't see any rehab committment that Case was assigned to. I don't care who you are or how good you can drive you do not put a knife into anybody's back. Granted jail time was served but that is not the solution to a problem that this man has it is only a sentence. Let's get the man some help and wish him luck.

As I look at the racing journals I see the names of Robinson, Daley, Norman, Pelling, Rucker, Anderson, Montini, Baillargeon, Filion, Stark, Brennan, Parker, Miller, Ranger, Waples, Stalbaum, Marino, Napolitano etc., all back racing from their from business related infractions. Its not like he is walking among angels and he paid for his with more than a slap on the wrist. Let him cast the first stone who has not sinned, said a very wise Man. Lets pray his born again freedom is well warranted, Go Walter !

You are correct that most "spousal disputes" don't make headlines. Only those that involve drugs, knives and attempted murder. No, I believe he shouldn't have his licence back. He is a convicted felon. Being involved in harness racing as a trainer, driver or groom is not a god given right; it is a priviledge. One that Mr. Case gave up. Rehab never worked for him. Let's hope prison did.

You know I read these comments and I gotta say the Man Paid his Debts he regrets what he has done leave the Man alone Get a life and let him Drive I can't Garantee that the man isn't gonna do anything Wrong but I think he should have a second chance everyone in Life deserves a second Chance to live his life whether its in horses or else Where I mean look at how many others where given Second Chances I say give the man a chance let him do what he is doing and if he screws up again then deal with him But what ever you do don't count your chickens before they hatch you never know whats gonna happen.

My name is nick case. nephew of walter case. most of what has been said here is true. but i believe that walter case CAN bring a good vibe and many spectators to the racing industry.

Being a complete lover of driving and horses and everything that they together have to offer. I do believe this. And anyone who isn't a driver or a trainer or who is not immediately involved with walter, u cannot say anything about him or how it will affect us. walter is a good man with bad habits. like the rest of our family. well most anyway.

i believe that walter does have the ability to do great, unlike his brother, my dear father, steve.

Casey showed all he's back, 10 wins six seconds and five thirds in three days. He stll has it. He has paid his dues leave him alone and let him go on with his life. Hopefully @ the Meadowlands or Chester.

Get over it people the man is back and he is probably one of the most talented drivers on any track. His debt is paid and he is moving on. You guys should too. This has always been a problem in our sport no matter how bad your record or your problems there is always a track that will take you in even if you are banned in many other places, without an overall commissioner as in other sports were doomed.

How many 2nd chances is this guy gonna get? He was barred from driving in many states before he went to prison for other misconducts.

One of the few who people come out to watch drive. His talents on a half mile track are well, let me say legendary. We need all the fans we can get. Yes, he should be on a short leash, he needs to prove things to people. However, according to the courts he has paid his debt to society.Why should we not allow someone to earn a living when he has paid his debt?

How do you get a license when you are a felon. Attempted murder.... this should help us clean up harness racing.

Well, I would hope that the track security & staff in any kir=tchen area @ the track, enusre that all knives all put away & out of his sight. I wouldn't want to be the one that pisses him off & there's a knife around. Many may find this comment rude & prbably arrogant, but why is the governing body allowing a criminal like him that has a total disregard for any human life, to be able to acquire a license to drive. How can anybody be certain that when thijgs don't go his way, that he won't resort in using deadly force.

I was always under the understanding that those with criminal records are not able to secure a license either to own,drive,train or even to participate as a groom.Mr. Case has behaved in a way that can effect the integrity of a deminising integrity of our sport. I believe that those in life who commit crimes are entitled to a second chance.This second chance should not be handed out lightly. I believe the offender should be held to a higher standard than the average participant in harness racing. What I mean by this is that Mr. Case should be required to pay some penants for his action. Pehaps a 5 year suspension from the sport to include anger management counselling.
Help our sport should not rush to further damage the best interest of harness racing.

Now we know why the racing game is almost dead. The drugging, the criminals and anything unsavoury is always given another and another and another chance. Management of most racetracks talk a lot but we know when it comes to cleaning the game they have no idea of what they are doing. Just check the racing attendance at all the tracks and you know why people have given up. Racing is no longer the sport of kings, it's becoming the sport of losers.
