Ritchie: Thank You

First, let me say how proud I am to have been inducted, last Wednesday evening, into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall Of Fame. For those of you who have never been to this event (like me, until the other night) it's run first-class, by Linda Rainey, and I'm sure, a long list of others that are behind the scenes. You don't even need to know an inductee to go there and enjoy the evening, with all of the wonderful horse-related stories being told by the inductees.

The reason for this letter is to once again thank everyone that has played a part in my road to the HOF. Bill Herbert is the man that changed my life, and started me down this road, but along the way there were countless others - owners, trainers and caretakers alike - that all contributed to my success. There are truly, too many people to count. I also wanted to apologize to two groups that I did not remember to mention while doing my induction speech. I had full intention of thanking both the members of the nomination and induction committees that voted for me, and the many caretakers that worked tirelessly behind the scenes to send me on the track with horses that were ready to win. Both groups were actually in my speech, but unfortunately, in the heat of the moment, and due to circumstances that would take to long to explain here, I just plum screwed up and left both groups out. So, thank you, to you all.

I also want to thank the many people that have commented, and congratulated me on Facebook (so I've been told). Since I'm not on Facebook, I have no other way to say thanks to all of you.

Thank you to everyone.

Sincerely,
Trevor Ritchie
