Pick the best freshman colt pacer of 2008

What colt was the best two-year-old pacer of the past season?

Nebupanezzar won the most money and won 10 of his 14 starts. The No Pan Intended colt took his 1:51.2 mark coming from well off the pace in the Governor's Cup to nip Art Colony with Major In Art third.

But you can't say anything bad about Major In Art. He was only back of third once in 10 starts, that coming in the Breeders Crown, his final start. Even then he was beaten fewer than four lengths. He won six times including the Wilson and Metro, his 1:50.4 mark coming on Aug. 1 when he won the Wilson.

Well Said justified his $240,000 yearling price when he stormed past pacers in the stretch of the Breeders Crown to win. He'd been fourth in the Metro and raced good several other times at Mohawk, but he also disappointed at times. He ended the season getting his 1:51 mark in the Breeders Crown.

Art Colony had four wins and three seconds in just seven starts. What about him? What about Dial Or Nodial?

Which one would you pick as the champion two-year-old pacer of 2008? Pick your champion and tell me why.

Nebupanezzar. Just because of the name. I'm sick of phrases being used as names (Well Said, Major In Art etc). But seriously, he's the best. $900K+ as a juvenile is impressive. I just hope his high number of starts doesn't affect him next year.

Major In Art is my choice. He made almost as much as Nebupanezzar but won fast 1.50.4 and won the Woodrow Wilson and Metro as compared to the Governors Cup. But it was his Breeders Crown Elim that impressed me. In that one he was beat in the stretch and fought hard and came back on to get the win...a true champion.
Plus the fact he is sort of a Cinderella story.

Well Said looked great in BC and had injury issues.Owner has knack
for having good ones.

Dean / I would like to see "" NEBUPANEZZAR "" receive the NOD -- he's quite a pacing machine.

My choice is nebupanezzar his record speaks for it's self 12 of 14 starts in the top two 13 out of 14 starts was beaten less than a length and the first 2 year old gelding to make over 1 million dollars what more could he do

Well Said, is my choice. Had tough luck most of the season but, as any good horse showed up when it really counts and that is exactly what he did in the Breeders Crown. Look forward to seeing him next year as a three old and hopefully with a lot better racing luck!!!!
