Beach 22 - Dewey 13

I was shocked to see that Beach got 22 first-place votes in the Top 10 poll this week while Dewey got 13. Last week the voting was 19 for Beach and 16 for Dewey and I'm trying to imagine what caused these voters to change their votes.

Prior to last week, Dewey had always led in the poll.

Well, mine is not to reason why, but it does seem strange because their recent starts resulted in victories and both are being pointed toward the Breeders Crowns this weekend. I certainly can see how the results this weekend might affect the voting, but not sure why the big switch in the past two weeks.

Dewey hadnt always led in the poll. Prior to the beachs defeat at Meadowlands he was well ahead in the poll. He lost and Dewey was undefeated and dewey took over and rightfully so. But after Dewey lost for the first time he still stayed on top. Then he didnt just lose for the second time he finished third but yet he remained on top. What was the Beach doing - setting world records, track records at every start and winning by opening lentghs. Dewey was just nipping victories and definitely not in track record or world record times so the real question should be why wasnt the Beach back on top of the poll the first week after Dewey lost his first race - just like it was prior to either losing !!!

NO CONTEST the Beach is HOY hands down !! Nothing against Dewey but come'on who is the most dominant horse?

SBSW is possibly the greatest standardbred ever !! And I mean EVER !!!

Alot of the voters may have been listening to the harsh ctitcism the poll had been receiving for the past two months. The prominent bloggers and some notable industry insiders have been calling in to question the credibility of the poll when after Beach's 1:46.4 mile, no votes changed. Alot of speculation included that the Beach was being penalized, for mostly his geography, but also as a result of some sour grapes and some sour egos that were rubbed the wrong way when the horse didn't go to the Jug.
But I guess you can only base your vote on "Spite" for so long.

Could be the fact that "Dewey" is or was questionable for this weekend. That should not matter that much though. I think the fact that it the final race for "Beach" may play a part as well.
