Frights On And Off The Track

Another early morning rush to the airport as we fly in to Oslo only to get a bus for a two hour ride to Biri Travbane

.

Of course we had to stop for lunch, because by this time we were all starving, only to find out we were getting Moose!!! Jesus lived on bread and water for 40 days I think I can make it through 10! It isn't bad though! It's been pretty good with lots of varieties of Norwegian foods, I'm just a fussy eater.

After we made our way to the track, met the judges, trainers, did the tour around, then I had to go to work and start warming up. When I was going with my first trotter he was very big and, boy, could it pull. As I was going something caught my eye...don't forget there was a three-foot pony in a jog cart, very small, with a kid jogging around the track. Now I'm not sure who got the bigger fright, the kid with the deer-in-the-headlights-eyes look or me, I just might have been able to go right over him without even touching him, but for his sake and mine we didn't!

My first race was another parked-out first and just got nipped at the wire, next few weren't that great - one was in traffic, another little lame. I also found out what a coldblooded horse is, it's like the Newfoundland pony mixed with a standardbred. They have a heavy mouth but you could never let them have it. It was different.

All in all, I did have fun and Sandra did find me a hamburger and fries so we're not starving. Hopefully today brings some better luck.

Sounds like you will have several good stories to tell everyone when you get back. Good Luck with the rest of your races. Being an East Coaster I would have thought you would be use to Moose but I guess it would depend on how they prepared it.

You mean, no MacDonalds in Norway!! Are these special meals for the competition, or their regular food? You can tough it out!! Here's hoping you'll have better horses in the rest of the tour. Do us a favour and give our best to Jason Bartlett, we knew him from our stay in Maine. Keep smiling!!

Good luck the rest of the way little buddy. We all know who the best driver over there is
