Even though there’s only approximately 50 Standardbreds foaled annually in Manitoba, breeder Arthur Rey thought he might have a decent one worth sending to Ontario. Who would train it though? Arthur knew someone that met Mike Kwietniowski online - playing harness racing video games - so why not him? The partnership blossomed as the horse, Emmetts Buddy, became Manitoba’s first sub-1:50 performer. A few years later, Arthur’s sister-in-law, Lorraine, thought she had a good Manitoba-bred as well.
