Both a blacksmith and a trainer for decades, Craig Barss once bought a filly he’d been shoeing, from his client that didn’t have time for her. She won a stakes final for Craig before injuring herself, so he and his partner decided to breed her. She’s had close to a dozen foals for them now, but none as memorable as her third one - Ideal Jet. The horse that’s known throughout southwestern Ontario for the speedy fractions he’s been known to set, has now made his breeders close to $700,000 the hard way, and although he’s slowed down a little, he’s not done yet.
