Rich Stiles simply prefers to own one horse at a time, so when he retired his 14-year-old - that he bought as a yearling - a few months before he had planned to, in late September, 2022, he headed to the Lexington Sale a few days later in search of a replacement. After spending almost twice as much as planned (it’s in the story as to why), and securing a trainer that ended up jogging his expensive colt through cornfields and along riverbanks, rather than around racetracks with other horses, there was a time when Rich thought that his money had been wasted. Fast-forward to September 23rd, when the colt was crowned winner of the $970,000 Metro Pace. Yes, this is a story that Hollywood would love. By John Rallis.
