Although it doesn’t seem like two years have passed, this article will be my final article as Chair of Standardbred Canada. I’m very grateful to the membership, Board of Directors, CEO and employees of Standardbred Canada for making my time as Chair an extraordinary experience. I have benefited greatly in terms of experience and knowledge and am grateful for all the support rendered to me in the past. This past year has been a very difficult year for everyone involved in harness racing in Canada. I’ve devoted most of my personal time and efforts to the fight to help keep harness racing well and alive in Ontario. However, I believe this next year will prove to be just as trying. I’m confident that the next Chair will have the experience and expertise to steer Standardbred Canada the right way into the future.
Standardbred Canada will see some significant changes in the next year with the downsizing of horse racing in Ontario, along with the downsizing of the Board of Directors in the fall.
Serving as your Chair of the Board of Standardbred Canada has been an excellent experience and I feel richer for having the chance to meet many of you at racetrack and events around the country. Thank you for honoring me with your trust and commitment. It has been my pleasure to work with my fellow Board of Directors at Standardbred Canada. I will still be on the Board at SC as a Director and will help the new Chair in any way I can.
