Future payments:
Future Payments: As a courtesy, Standardbred Canada will make every effort to advise nominators of future stake payments, but it is the responsibility of the owner of the colt, filly or gelding to ensure that future stake payments are made, whether or not notice has been received. Failure to make a payment when due constitutes automatic withdrawal from racing in the stakes. A dishonoured cheque will constitute non-payment, and the horse will be ineligible to the stake.
Racing Conditions:
All races to be raced a distance of one mile. BC Rules of Standardbred Racing shall govern.
The Stake will be raced as a series of up to four elimination legs and one Final. All horses must be
entered to race. All horses must race at least one of the four legs to enter the Final. If divisions are required,
entries will be split first by Owner, then by Trainer where possible. In each elimination leg and division,
points will be awarded and the eight (8) horses with the most points will be eligible to start in the Final.
Five or more starters, the purse distribution for each race will be 50%, 25%, 12%, 8%, and 5% in Canadian funds.
If less than five (5) horses declared to start in the Final, purse distribution will be as follows: Four starters:
Winner 50%, Second 25%, Third 15%, Fourth 10%; Three Starters: Winner 55%, Second 30%, Third 15%; Two Starters: Winner 65%, Second 35%; One Starter: Winner 100%. In the event of a discrepancy regarding the number of starters, the level of money will revert to the ruling of the Point System. If an elimination to a stake race has less than 5 finishers, due to interference or accident, the non- offending parties will receive the purse money and points for the position(s) not completed. Any remaining purse money will return to the purse pool.
If a Final to the stake race has less than 5 finishers, any unclaimed funds will go to the winner instead of
returning to the purse pool.
Point System:
Points: 1st-50 points, 2nd-25 points, 3rd-12 points, 4th-8 points, 5th-5 points. If less than 5 starters, points are
awarded the same way. A horse disqualified for any reason will forfeit points, which will be reassigned to horses that would have finished in the correct order. In the event of a Dead Heat, points will be shared between the horses involved. The top 8-point winners will enter the final. In the event of a tie in points, entry will be drawn by lot.
Also Eligible will be drawn from 9th highest point winners, or non-point winners, also drawn by lot if tied in points. The Also Eligible cannot be moved into a race after advanced betting has commenced. All questions regarding eligibility will be determined by the judges. A Retention Barn may be required and /or implemented.
With the approval of the Judges, HRBC may make changes to the terms, conditions, and the purse structure of the BC Bred Stakes; including the nomination payments, sustaining payments, and starting fees, and the nominator hereby agrees to be bound by such changes. All purses are subject to industry funding, slot performance and simulcast revenue.
