Nomination Date: Monday, August 10th, 2026
1. All events conducted under the rules and regulations of the Maritime Provinces Harness
Racing Commission, Standardbred Canada and Red Shores.
2. Nominations/Declarations close at 3:00 pm (AST) on Monday, August 10th, 2026. The draw for the eliminations will take place Tuesday, August 11th, 2026 at 12:00 pm (AST). If there are more than three trials, each trial will race
for a purse of $12,500.
3. All races will be at a distance of one (1) mile unless otherwise stated.
4. All starting positions shall be drawn electronically using the electronic draw system
provided by Standardbred Canada, except the trails and final which shall be drawn by lot
under the supervision of an MPHRC Judge.
5. Purse distribution:
a. 5 or more starters: 50 — 25 —12 — 8 — 5%;
b. 4 starters: 50 — 25 — 15 — 10%;
c. 3 starters: 60 — 30 —10%;
d. 2 starters: 65 — 35%;
e. 1 starter: 100%.
6. Red Shores requires six (6) separate betting interests to start in any event or it may be
cancelled.
7. Red Shores reserves the right to reject any entry and declare off any event if conditions
warrant, call off any event not filling satisfactorily and place entries in their eligible class
if entered incorrectly.
8. Should any unforeseeable conditions prevent the racing of this event, monies paid will
be refunded. Red Shores reserves the right to carry races to a future date subject to MPHRC approval.
9. All horses shipping to Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park must
have a negative coggins test (Reference MPHRC Rule 133 and 149). All horses shipping
into Prince Edward Island must have current health certificates.
10. All horses must meet the qualifying standards of Red Shores.
11. Furosemide/EIPH (Lasix) program will be available to horses competing in the
Eliminations, Consolation and Final of the Gold Cup & Saucer 2026 under the regulation
of CPMA and MPRHC.
12. If more than ten (10) horses are declared in to start, elimination races (trials) will be
contested.
a. If there are sufficient entries for two,three or four trials, they will be held on Saturday, August 15th 2026.
13. Horses eligible for the Gold Cup and Saucer final and consolation are not eligible to race
in overnight races.
14. There is no retention barn for the eliminations. All horses entered into the final are
required to be in the retention barn at 12:00pm noon (AST) on the day of the race, Saturday
August 22th, 2026.
15. Declarations for the consolation and final will close at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026.
a. If only two (2) elimination races are required, the top four (4) official finishers from each
elimination will race in the final of the Gold Cup and Saucer. The two (2) horses finishing fifth
will be drawn by lot as to determine AE1 and AE2.
b. If there are three (3) eliminations, the first three (3) official finishers in each elimination will
advance to the final. The also eligible will be drawn by lot from the three 4th place finishers.
c. If four (4) eliminations, the top two (2) official finishers in each elimination will race in the final.
The also eligible will be drawn by lot from the four (4) third place finishers. Horses that are listed
as also eligible for the Gold Cup and Saucer will be programmed in the consolation race but will retain
the right to start in the Gold Cup and Saucer final if there is a horse(s) drawn.
d. If, after the Final and Consolation have full fields, there are 6 remaining entries from the 6th,7th,8th or 9th place finishers from the trials, they will race in the PEIHRIA invitational on Saturday, August 22,2026.
16. In the consolation or final, should there be horses with common ownership; Red Shores
reserves the right (as per MPHRC rule 205) to uncouple horses for pari-mutuel purposes.
17. A declaration for this event is an agreement to all the above terms and conditions.
18. Red Shores accepts no responsibility or liability for any accident, loss or damage, which
may occur on the property as a result of these races.
