Jim Caddey Passes

Longtime harness racing industry participant James Frederick 'Jim' Caddey of Embro, Ont. passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Woodstock Hospital, in his 87th year.

Jim worked as an insurance broker for many years and was a Standardbred horse breeder and owner. His horses raced with the Greystone prefix, with open class pacing mare Greystone Ladylike one of his more recent successful and notable homebreds. He enjoyed spending his time with his horses, hunting coon and was an avid ball and hockey player.

Beloved husband of Alma Jean Caddey (nee Craig) of 62 years. Loving father of Colleen Grace (Brent) Belore. Proud grandfather of Alana and Dylan Belore. Dear brother-in-law of Grace Schnurr and Leslie Craig. Predeceased by his brother Charles (Norma) Caddey, his sister Edith Murray (Thomas Holden and Peter Murray) and brother-in-law Rand (Carol) Craig, and Allan Schnurr, and sister-in-law Mary Jean Craig. James is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A private family burial will take place at the North Embro Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of life at the Knox United Church in Embro, 116 Kincardine, Embro, on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004).
