Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted a set of six qualifying races during its weekly Tuesday morning session.

Two-year-old pacing filly Sunshine Sally opened the morning session with her second straight qualifying win for trainer Dominic Gladu.

Driven by James MacDonald, the Sunshine Beach-Up Front Gal filly followed the Aaron Byron-trained colt Droptherakefreddy in the pocket through panels of :29.4, 1:00.3 and 1:29 before that Huntsville colt drifted out wide at the top of the lane. With a clear a path ahead, Sunshine Sally paced home in :28.4 to win by one length in 1:58 flat. Droptherakefreddy finished second and the Bettors Delight filly Addison Seelster, a six-figure London Virtual Sale yearling purchase, was third.

Bred by Vieux Carre Farms, Sunshine Sally was a $10,000 Harrisburg yearling sale purchase by Francois Dupuis of St-Alphonse Rodriguez, Que., and Roger Bourgeois of Rawdon, Que.

Two-year-old trotter Northern Ironman later front-stepped his way to a wide-open 2:01.4 score for trainer Rob Fellows with MacDonald in the bike.

Leading by six lengths or more throughout the mile, the Kadabra-Miss Steele gelding cruised through fractions of :30.3, 1:01.1 and 1:31.4 en route to the 7-1/4 length victory. Cersei De Vie and Heavens Pic were the best of the rest.

Northern Ironman, a $24,000 Ontario Select yearling purchase that has made four starts to date, is owned by Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, Ont., Blair Corbeil of Beaumont, Alta., Patrick Dillon of Port Hope, Ont., and Arpad Szabo of Bradford, Ont.

The fastest mile of the morning was courtesy of Millar Farms' homebred three-year-old pacing gelding Powertrain, who won his qualifier in 1:53.2 after making miscues during his previous two starts in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series and Somebeachsomewhere Stakes.

The Shadow Play-Mmillion Blue Chip gelding advanced from fourth to take the lead approaching three-quarters in 1:25.4 before closing out the qualifying mile with a :27.3 final frame in rein to Sylvain Filion. Four-year-old Reagan Blue Chip finished one length behind in second after cutting first half fractions of :29.1 and :58.1. Betach Baby followed in third.

Unraced at two, the Nick Gallucci-trained Powertrain sports a 3-2-0 record with $71,825 earned from eight starts this year, including a 1:49.3 victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park earlier this summer.
