Seelster Farms has long been a supporter of the Ontario Standardbred Horse Society (OSAS) and when Flamboro Downs hosts their OSAS race on Thursday evening (Sept. 30), the Lucan nursery will have two chances to have a Seelster bred win.
The two fillies, Patina Seelster and Larjon Lena, are both three-year-olds who sold at the London Selected Sale as yearlings. Patina was co-bred with Mark and Stephanie Horner. She is a roan daughter of Sunshine Beach trained by her owner Craig Gilmour.
She has one win in eight tries this year which came on July 12 at Grand River Raceway in the first race on the card. In the very next race at the Elora track, it was Larjon Lena returning to the winner’s circle. Patina has drawn post two in the OSAS race, number five on the card, which gets underway at 6:35 p.m.
Her pasture mate at Seelster during their early days, Larjon Lena, leaves from post four. She’s a daughter of State Treasurer owned by Jemaxpo Racing Stable of Florida. Her summary to date in 2021 is 2-2-2 from 13 attempts with her latest win coming at the Dundas oval earlier this month.
The race is in honour of OSAS’s 25th Anniversary and since the beginning, Seelster Farms has been a staunch supporter of the organization, which has found homes for more than 1,000 harness horses.
Every racetrack in Ontario is celebrating OSAS’s 25th anniversary with a special race this year. Flamboro’s will be the ninth with Western Fair (October 8), Mohawk (October 23) and Rideau Carleton (October 28) still to come.
