Round Barn Fundraiser October 7

Published: September 28, 2012 12:03 pm EDT

The annual fundraiser for the Round Barn at the Red Mile will be held the morning of Sunday, October 7, prior to the big racing card featuring the Kentucky Futurity.

The event is free and open to the public and will get underway at 10:00 a.m. with coffee and pastries.

There will be many items offered in a silent auction, plus a brief live auction, with proceeds from the sale to be used for the latest capital need, to repair rotted wood structural support beams in the barn.

Among the items to be auctioned are many unique horse-themed items, including benches with cushions in fabric-depicting trotters. In addition, prints of works by famed equine artists Philip Berkley, Richard Stone Reeves, George Ford Morris and Helen Hayes will be among the items offered.

A complete list of auction items will be posted next week, and will also be available at The Red Mile program stands and at Fennell's harness shop adjacent to the Red Mile and Round Barn.
