ORC Unloads Nine Rulings

Late in the afternoon on Friday, September 23, the Ontario Racing Commission released its rulings on nine standardbred appeals which came from a total of 11 licensees

.

The ORC denied an appeal by Bill Companion and Reg Higgs. The appeal was in regard to an ORC denial for a request for stay in relation to the horse Undercover Strike. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC denied an appeal by Travis Umphrey. The appeal was in regard to the horse Spago Hall being declared ineligible to a race at Georgian Downs. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC denied an appeal by Dr. Michael Wilson. The appeal was in regard to Dr. Wilson's horse, Warrawee Nonsuch, being placed on the ORC judge's starting list. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC denied an appeal by Dick Burke. The appeal was in regard to a 120-day suspension and $1,500 fine for a Class 3 positive test from the horse Greek Shark. In its ruling, the ORC panel also ordered the ORC administration to investigate an alleged statement of Dr. Goodrow with respect to his treatment of Greek Shark. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC allowed an appeal, in part, by Michael Whelan and Terry Hunter. The appeal was in regard to driving suspension for Whelan and the placing of My Whispering Eye. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC allowed an appeal by Ted Jacobs. The appeal was in regard to the non-placing of the horse Big Strike in a race at Hiawatha Horse Park this summer. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC denied an appeal by Paul MacDonell. The appeal was in regard to the cancellation of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold elimination at Grand River Raceway on September 19, 2011. To read the ORC ruling, click here.

The ORC denied an appeal by Karen Hudon. The appeal was in regard to a suspension and the placing of the horse Northern Senorita. click here.

At the time of this publishing, there was zero information regarding the nature or result of an apparent appeal by Jeff Barkley, as the ORC failed to provide anything regarding it. This story will be updated when the information becomes available.
