A total of nine $20,000 divisions for ywo-year-olds will kick off the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) first leg of stakes this week (Sept. 21-23) at Harrington Raceway.
The pacing colts and geldings will be in action Monday, pacing fillies on Tuesday, and both sexes of trotters on Wednesday.
It appears to be fairly wide open in the lightly-raced group, as only four pacers of either sex have won a race thus far. On the male pacing side, only MST Racing’s Cant Get Right (6/1, Ross Wolfenden) has a win. Meanwhile, among pacing fillies (three divisions), Frank Chick and David Hamm’s Tobago Time (7/5, Jon Roberts), Jo Ann Looney-King’s Stealing Bases (7/5, Victor Kirby), Henry Faragalli III, Nanticoke Racing, Bonucelli Racing and Doane Racing’s Rowdy One (5/2, Corey Callahan) and George Teague and MST Racing’s Adrianna (7/5, Montrell Teague) each have wins. There are 14 first-time starters among the two-year-old pacers.
As for the trotters on Wednesday, only Malachis Test (Jack Parker Jr.), who is two-for-two lifetime, has had his picture taken for trainer Chuck Groce II. The Keystone Activator gelding has looked particularly impressive in limited action. There are 15 first-time starters among the four divisions of trotters.
Post time is at 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday.
