Hiawatha Announces New Claiming Series

Officials at Sarnia's Hiawatha Horse Park have announced that the track will be will be hosting an end-of-the-season claiming series for $3,500 pacing claimers for both colts and gelding and fillies and mares

.

The details of the series appear below.

Hiawatha End Of Season Claiming Series

• Entry Fee - $100 (cash or cheques payable to Hiawatha Horse Park) (payment to be received by September 30)
• pacing colts and geldings claiming $3,500 w-all (legs Oct. 9, 16 and 23 final)
• pacing fillies and mares claiming $3,500 w-all (legs Oct. 14, 21 and 28 final)
• two legs plus final and *consolation final
• 1st leg $3,500 claimer (purse $2,700)
• 2nd leg $3,500 claimer (purse $2,700)

Final $10,000 (added); consolation final $5,000 (added) (60% added to final, 40% added to consolation). No claiming will be permitted in the final or consolation.

* Minimum 30 entries (per division) to include both a final and consolation race; if less than 30 entries there will be only final money with all 100% added money to be included (ex: if only a final $10,000 plus 100% added money offered).

If there are less than 20 entries in either division, it will be the race office's discretion as to whether or not run series.

RACING CONDITIONS: All ORC rules apply. Post positions for all events will be drawn by lot.

The finals will be limited to the nine (9) highest money winning horses, The next nine (9) highest money earners in legs that enter will be eligible to consolation. There will be one (1) 'also eligible' drawn for the finals and the consolation. The horse designated as also-eligible in the final will be drawn into the next level down, but may be eligible to be drawn in at scratch time. Horses may not opt out of their proper races to enter the next level down. In the case of a tie in earnings horses will be drawn by lot for respective finals or a/e positions. You must declare into the final/consolation finals.
