Owner Dean Davis and trainer/driver Kurt Sugg have retired the world champion trotter, Dunkster

.

The Davis/Sugg partnership has raced many good horses, but they both agree that Dunkster is the best horse they have raced together over their 16-year partnership.

Throughout Dunkster’s 10-year racing career he won on 22 different surfaces across nine different states. He clocked his 1:53.3 lifetime-mark, at age eight, at Balmoral Park in Illinois. He holds the world record and track record for five-year-olds-and-up trotting geldings on a half-mile track by virtue of a win at Northfield Park in 1:54.2 on May 10, 2004. He also holds the track trotting record at Lebanon Raceway with a 1:57 mark in 2003. He raced in 287 races, winning 89 times and earning $897,297, ranking him fourth among all-time Ohio-bred leading money-winning trotters.

Dunkster, a 12-year old, is the gelded son of Striking Sahbra from the Armbro Iliad mare Rosemary T.

“He’s going to go out and eat grass in the pasture now,” commented Sugg. “He has been retired to Spring Run Farm in Apple Creek, Ohio.”
