The Bytowne Cinema in Ottawa, Ont. is hosting a free screening of the harness racing movie Tempête on Thursday, Sept. 18.
Released in 2022, Tempête is a visually-stunning celebration of the human-horse connection in the sport of harness racing. The family-friendly drama directed by Québec's Christian Duguay is based on Chris Donner's book Tempête au Haras (2018). With its evocative soundtrack, breathtaking imagery, and timeless storyline about a girl and her horse, Tempête was a box office success in France on original release.
This special presentation is free to the public, courtesy of sponsorship by Ontario Racing and the National Capital Region Harness Horse Association, which represents horsepeople at Ottawa's harness horse racing track, Rideau Carleton Raceway. After the film, a bilingual speaker from Rideau Carleton Raceway will answer audience questions about the sport of harness racing and local opportunities to become involved, whether through shared horse ownership, employment in racing, or visiting Rideau Carleton Raceway to watch and wager.
Tickets are available for the 1 p.m. viewing here.
