Congratulations to Tania Girouard of Brownsburg-Chatham, Quebec, on winning our August Zoom Challenge featuring the theme of Horse Crazy Kids where we asked our members to send us shots of horses and kids interacting.
Tania’s winning shot was of her sons Hugo, 8 and Cedric, 6, “the next generation of Quebec horsemen,” watching a Muscle Mass colt, named "Capteur de Rêve" (which means Dream Catcher in English) and his mother, Noblesse. The photo was taken at Ecurie Provocante, in Mirabel, Quebec, where her partner, trainer Eric Valiquette, is stabled.
Tania and Eric also own retired standardbred horses on their farm in Brownsburg where they also do some boarding. They do this “for fun, passion, for love and to ride once in a while!”
When Tania’s not helping Eric racing horses, she and her sons can be found in the grandstand at Hippodrome 3R. “We really enjoy the racing, it’s our little family business!!” she explains. Before having her boys, Tania worked as a groom for Pierre Touchette and Michael MacDonald.
Photography is one of Tania’s passions with horses being her favourite subject. However, she enjoys photographing all animals and even insects, including bees since they have beehives at home!
Thank you to our other finalists:
-
Kelly Nicholson of Caribou Marsh, NS, for her shot of Hailey and the horse.
-
Amber Windsor of Dorchester, ON for her shot of Emma and Brody with Distintiv Dreamer
-
Melissa Chandler of Winsloe, PEI for the shot of her daughter Kali Metivier and Forced To Travel folllowing his win during Old Home Week
Get Snappin for Meet My Horse – Deadline September 26
September’s Zoom Challenge theme is “Meet My Horse.” We want to see an image of you and your Standardbred horse!
If you don’t own a horse, maybe it’s a horse you take care of, a friend’s horse or your favourite horse. Your horse can be jogging, training, racing, in the stall, in the winner’s circle, in the field, under saddle, etc. but we really want you with the horse which means you need to find someone to take the photo, unless it’s a selfie!
Deadline for submissions is September 26. Send your photos to [email protected].
