Prince Edward Island tracks will play host to two new pacing series this fall presented by Meridian Farms, one of the Island’s largest breeding operations.
The Island Pacing Championship, an Open event for pacers that are three-years-old and older, will be staged at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino in late September and October. Nomination is $100 due on September 24. The $5,000 elimination will be held on Saturday, September 29 with the consolation on October 6 and the $10,000 (added) final on Championship Sunday, October 7 of the Atlantic Breeders Crown.

Meridian Farms will also sponsor a $3,500 claiming event for horses and mares named in honour of the late David Rose. The trainer-driver passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
The first leg of the David Rose Memorial will go October 28, 2012 at Red Shores Summerside, followed by a second leg November 4 at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The consolation ($1,500, added) and final ($6,000, added) will take place on November 11, 2012 in Charlottetown. The nomination fee is $25 and is due on October 22, 2012.
