Hiawatha Meeting; Qualifying Adjustments

Officials at Sarnia's Hiawatha Horse Park have announced that qualifying standards for the fall portion of the track's meet are being adjusted

, and that there will be a paddock meeting with Ontario Racing Commission judges this week to discuss new rule changes.

In regard to the adjustment of the qualifying standards, the pacing standards will be moved to 2:03. The new standard for trotters will be 2:05.

Three-year-olds will be given a one-second allowance, while two-year-olds will be given two seconds. Hiawatha will also be giving two seconds in allowance time for horses coming from half mile ovals. The changes will begin immediately.

Hiawatha is also holding a paddock meeting on Thursday September 16 to discuss the new rule changes that take place on September 15. Senior judge Paul Harrison will be available along with race secretary Dave Walls to answer any questions.

The new rules are available online on the ORC site or can also be obtained in the race office or race paddock to view.
