The Red Mile has announced that an ‘all stakes’ 20-Cent Pick 8 wager has been added to the track’s special Sunday afternoon (Sept. 16) card.
The wager will start on Race 3 and will cover all eight $250,000 KYSS Finals slated as part of the Fayette County Fair program. Live racing will begin at 3 p.m. Track officials, in conjunction with the United States Trotting Association’s ‘Strategic Wagering Program,’ have added a $10,000 guarantee to the total pool.
The wager will feature a horseplayer-friendly takeout of only 15 per cent. Fans will have the option to play 20-cent ‘quick pick’ tickets as well. The wager will feature a mandatory payout, so the entire net pool will be paid out to whomever has the most winners if no fans select all eight winners.
Although live racing will begin at 3 p.m., The Fayette County Fair will run from noon until 6 p.m. Admission is free and the fair will include food trucks, local craft breweries, bourbon tastings and an arts and crafts market.
Several music acts will play on two stages (one inside and one outside), with rising country star and Lexington native Walker Montgomery, Avery Crabtree and Conch Republic among the performers. Montgomery is slated to perform on the outdoor stage from 4-6 p.m. The racing program will kick off with a horse parade of various breeds at 2:30 p.m. and the Harness Horse Youth Foundation will offer hands-on equine experiences.
