The Director of the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) has approved August 31, 2014 as a Fair Race Date for the Port Perry Fair. The Port Perry Agricultural Society applied for and was granted a licence to operate racing as a one day, non-extended meet.
Given that the ORC is responsible for oversight of fairs since late 2012, a licensing process for non-extended meets (6 days or less) has been implemented. The new requirements provide for a regulatory framework, in keeping with the size and scope of fair operations.

The Ontario Racing Commission approved a request from the Port Perry Agricultural Society for financial assistance to support Standardbred races at the 2014 Port Perry Fair. The races will take place on Sunday August 31, 2014.
The Director of the ORC has approved an allocation of $ 7,500.00 for purses, with the condition that purses do not exceed an average of $ 1,000.00 per race. These monies will be sourced from the SB Purse Trust account.
Please be advised that any aggrieved party has the right to appeal the Director’s decision to the Commission.
