Live racing will return to Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway on Wednesday, August 26, and two divisions of the Maple Leaf Trot and a race featuring three Mayors.

The card will kick off with a 7 p.m. first-race post time.

Three-year-old fillies will take the stage in the $5,200 Maple Leaf Trot, which has been carded as Race 4. Paymenowpaymelater has received the nod on the morning line, as she has been established as the 5-2 early choice. Gold Cup & Saucer winning driver Marc Campbell will be in the race bike for trainer Earl Watts and owner Wade Peconi, Stanchel, PE. The filly has three wins from four starts and will start from the rail. The other starters include Ladyfoolingaround (to be driven by Brian MacPhee), Sweetwater Rayne (Jack Panting), Windmere Tribe (Darrell Neill), Tyne Valley (Kenny Arsenault) and Skyanne (Paul Lanigan).

The red hot JK Blaze is the morning line favourite (5-2) in the Maple Leaf Trot’s three-year-old colt division. The son of Northern Bailey, bred by Bill Andrew, Calgary, Alberta and trained by Joe Smallwood, has three scores from four races this season. Walter Cheverie will be in the bike from Post 3. Phoenician (Jason Hughes) and Suicide Shift (Steven Shepherd) are also listed as triactor candidates. The roster also has Buddy The Elf, BJ Matador, Southfield JB, Dusty Lane Jacob and Windemere Ty.

The card will also feature a showdown between Mayors Bill Martin, Summerside, Clifford Lee, Charlottetown, and Rowan Casely, Kensington. Martin issued the challenge back at the launch of this year’s Lobster Festival in July. The participants will team up with drivers on double-seated jog carts. The event is scheduled for an 8 p.m. post time.
