Hawthorne Race Course hosts Illinois' biggest night of harness racing, Night of Champions, on Saturday, September 23, 2017 with a 7:10 p.m. post time. The night includes: 11 stake races, $1 million in purses, driver meet & greet from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, trackside BBQ, split the pot and second chance raffles.
"This is one of my personal favourite nights of the year as we wrap up our harness racing meet for the season," said President and General Manager Tim Carey. "It's the perfect night to come to Hawthorne and experience the excitement of live harness racing, whether you are a long-time racing fan or it's your first time out to the race course, with great barbeque and entertainment you will have a spectacular night."
Night of Champions is Illinois' biggest racing night of the year with $1 Million in purses.
Night of Champions Club Concourse Party Package ($45) with reserved seating, two hour BBQ buffet from 6:30 to 8:30 PM includes domestic beer, house wine, and soda, tax and gratuity included. Admission is ($2) and includes: Vienna Beef Hot Dog Gate Giveaway, Stilt Walker by AcroDazzle Entertainment, celebrity guest meet and greet, and retired celebrity horses brought by the American Standardbred Thoroughbred Program for photos with patrons. Track-side BBQ features the following sandwiches: Hamburger ($8), Italian Sausage ($6), and BBQ Chicken ($5) all served with a side of coleslaw.
