Live Standardbred racing will return to Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway on Wednesday night (August 24) under the lights.
The locally based Motorino has been pegged as the morning line favourite in the featured Race 8, which carries a purse of $2,000. The Terry Gallant trainee heads into the race off of a scratch, but the last time he went behind the gate he was a front-end winner in 1:55.3. Gallant, who co-owns with Eric Johnson, will be back in the sulky.
Foxyhall Racing’s Narragansett has drawn Post 5 and is heading into the race fresh off of bang-up second-place finish in the Wal and Joe Hennessey for trainer/driver Jason Hughes. The seven-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover is having a bounce back season and has earned over $7,000 in purses over the course of 16 starts.
Momara heads into the contest riding a three-race win streak. The mainland invader is owned by Ralph Harvey and trained by son Ed. Walter Cheverie has picked up the catch-driving assignment.
The evening’s finale, Race 9, will see Lucky Encounter try to extend his win streak to three when he tackles seven rivals from Post 5.
The program will kick off with a 7:00 p.m. first-race post time.
