On Friday, August 23, Northfield Park will host two divisions of Ohio Sires Stakes racing action as part of its 14-race program. This will be the fourth leg of the sires stakes for the sophomore fillies.

Trotters will begin Friday’s stakes action in the evening’s eighth race. The field of nine will vie for a purse of $35,000. Contessa Leigh (Full Count-Howl-Overcomer) has been made the overwhelming 3-5 morning-line favourite. She races for Northfield Park Wall of Fame trainer Marty Wollam, who co-owns the filly with G&B Racing. Wollam has enlisted the services of Chip Noble.

Contessa Leigh has won six of seven races this year and 11 of 14 lifetime. She will start from the rail and will enter the event on a five-race win streak. Contessa Leigh has a career bankroll of $182,086 and has a 1:56.4 lifetime mark which she trotted at Scioto Downs on July 6. Also competing in the fourth leg will be Mitey Pretty Win, TTs Megapixel, Diplomats Mistress, Coverlet, Miss Lulu Belle, Trainer Dunn, Sheza Lavec and MJs Victory Wish.

Race 10 will be the final Ohio Sires Stakes race of the evening, the $35,000 fourth leg for three-year-old pacing fillies. Pink Camo (Pine Valley-CGs Gem) is the 5-2 morning-line favourite in the full field of 10 starters. She is owned by the partnership of Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, J. Melillo and R. Suda. Ron Burke, North America’s winningest trainer in 2013, conditions the filly and uses Aaron Merriman to drive.

Pink Camo has made 21 lifetime starts and has won eight races, finished second three times and recorded two third-place finishes. She took her mark of 1:52.3 last year at Scioto Downs and equalled that time this year at the Meadows. Pink Camo will start from Post 3 in a talented field that consists of Two Friskie, Forever La Nigh, CG Satin, Norma Jean, Cheat Sheet, Igottafeelinfran, Rain Dance Maggy, One Naughty Lady and CGs Serious.
