Invite Pacers To Clash At Red Shores

A pair of red-hot win streaks collide in the top pace of the Saturday evening (August 3) card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 13-dash Saturday presentation kicks off at 6:00 p.m., with the featured $3,000 Preferred Pace slotted as the twelfth race. Rose Run Quest comes into the race with four straight wins down his program for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. A winner in the Governor’s Plate final at Red Shores Summerside and the Lindsay Construction Cup at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia, Rose Run Quest will have to face a new foe on Saturday in Sock It Away, who has yet to finish worse than second since coming home to the East Coast. Sock It Away sits on a pair of wins currently including a 1:53.2 lifetime best performance but the four-year-old son of Pang Shui has yet to meet Rose Run Quest in racing action this year. Corey MacPherson will drive Sock It Away for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac is giving the edge to Rose Run Quest off his 1:52.1 Truro Raceway track record performance.

“Rose Run Quest has dominated the free-for-all ranks throughout the Maritimes over the past month and if it's possible, he seems to be getting better with every start,” MacIsaac said. “There doesn't seem to be anything to stand in his way.”

Filling out the preferred field are Half Cut (Mark Bradley), Down On My Luck (Walter Cheverie), Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) and Do Over Hanover (Jason Hughes).

Tobinator is the morning line favourite in the $1,900 Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia pace in the sixth race. Corey MacPherson drives the Trevor Hicken trainee for owner Bill Hicken of Vernon Bridge. The five-year-old was a second-place finisher in 1:55 in his latest outing.

The TD Canada Trust pace is carded as race eight, as Mach Of Ballykeel (Campbell) looks to overcome post eight as the morning line favourite in the $1,500 class.

The top pacing mares on the East Coast will battle in a pair of $2,700 Open Mares dashes in races four and seven. Jordies Hope is the favourite in the fourth with David Dowling back in the bike for trainer Brian Ladner from post six. Sodwana Bay is picked for the top spot in race seven for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau.
