Trainer Murray Brethour will be busy at Kawartha Downs this Saturday night, as he will send out four horses from his stable – which he will also drive – in addition to picking up a catch drive on the 10-race program.
His first starter will perform in Race 4 when his two-year-old Bettors Delight colt Pay The Dos will make his first lifetime start after a pair of qualifiers. Brethour shares ownership of the colt with John Fleischman, Dean Campbell and Mark Bloch. He is the first foal of the $559,000 winner Honky Tonk Woman.
In the next race (Race 5), Murray’s three-year-old filly Seven Angels will make her fourth career start. Unraced last year at two, the Cheyenne Rei miss owned by Heather Young, qualified at KD last month, but has made her three outings to date at Georgian Downs.
Murray will be right back at it in Race 6 with another three-year-old pacing filly, this one a daughter of Camluck owned by breeder Northfields Farm of Meaford named Northern Prima. The filly will be looking for her second straight win at the Fraserville oval, as she won last week in a maiden-breaking 1:57.1. The filly is the second foal of million-dollar winner Southwind Madonna.
In Race 8, Brethour has picked up a catch drive aboard See R Chin Win, who will also be looking for her second straight victory at KD. A seven-year-old trotting mare owned by Shawn Moscrop and trained by Ronda Markle, See R Chin Win has a win and a second from five starts so far this year.
Murray’s maroon and gold silks will next be seen in Race 9, where he’ll drive a relative newcomer to his barn, the six-year-old pacing gelding Chosen Hombre who he started training in late June. Brian Scott bred and owns the Royal Mattjesty son.
Racing will get underway at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Kawartha. Saturday’s program is available here.
