Nine divisions of two-year-old pacing and trotting colts will be featured at Scioto Downs on Tuesday afternoon (August 16) in the third round of Ohio Sires Stakes action.
Each division carries a purse of $40,000 and the card will begin with a first-race post time of 2 p.m. (ET).
A total of 23 trotters – 11 colts and 12 geldings – are set to vie in a trio of trotting divisions (Races 2, 3 and 5). Eleven of these youngsters are by Dejarmbro, with three each by Triumphant Caviar and Full Count and two each sired by Break The Bank K and Victory Sam. Big Rigs and And Away We Go are each represented by a single freshman.
The trotter Buckeye Boss has already captured the first two OHSS legs, while Hope Ima Victory, Full Surge, Just Plain DJ, Fraser Ridge and Dejarover have all scored a victory in one leg of the series to date.
In the six pacing divisions (Races, 1, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 11), 18 colts and 36 geldings will battle. A full 14 of these laterally-gaited youngsters call McArdle their sire, while Big Bad John has 13 progeny competing. Eight of the two-year-old pacers are by Art Official, with four each sired by Foreclosure N and The Panderosa.
Ohio stallions Arts Chip, Cheyenne Rei, Charley Barley, Feelin Friskie, Im Gorgeous, Indian Fever, Manhardt, Santana Blue Chip, Stand Forever, Woodstock and World of Rock N Roll all have one son vying for first prize in this third OHSS leg test.
Those youngsters looking to score another OHSS leg victory in include Corner Con Artist, Scotch McEwan, McSpidey, Air Raid, Drunk On Your Love (a two-time winner), Dancin Rebel, Stanley K, Barnabas, Rons Pro, Ohio Larry, McThriller, Sunnys Bro and Pace Car.
