Sunday August 23 is a date that families in the Clinton area wait for all season long. It’s a day where kids and adults descend on Clinton Raceway for an afternoon of fun, activity and, of course, live harness racing.
This year Clinton Raceway has teamed up with The Sunshine Foundation of Canada to help raise funds and help make dreams come true for children with severe physical disabilities.
“The harness racing community is so supportive of our fundraising initiatives,” said Jessica Carnochan, marketing manager for Clinton Raceway. “This is just another example of the difference we can make when we all come together. Working with The Sunshine Foundation on this event was a perfect fit, let’s encourage kids to help kids.”
The event, which will kick off at post time (1:30 p.m.) will feature a bouncy castle, paddle boats, derby horse race course, face painting, Zumba , BBQ, bake sale and more.
The Hands on Horses program will be on site, giving kids the chance to drive a real live racehorse. Former MLB Blue Jay, Jesse Barfield will also be available for photos and autographs as part of the day’s events. All activities are by donation, allowing families to donate what they can, making it a great day for everyone.
“The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is grateful for the support of family focused events such as the Clinton Raceway’s Annual Kids Day,” said Nancy Sutherland, CEO of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. “This event brings awareness to Sunshine’s Dream Programs with funds raised help fulfill dreams for children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. By fulfilling the most heartfelt dreams of Sunshine Kids, we give them the chance to realize that nothing can stand in the way of a dream.”
