Ron Berkeley Sr. Passes

Longtime Flamboro Downs trainer Ron Berkeley Sr. passed Tuesday (Aug. 6) following a long bout with cancer. He was 73.

Berkeley maintained a small stable through much of the 1990s and 2000s, sending 89 winners to post in 565 starts. In 2009, his final full year of training, he won 14 races and earned 25 minor placings while sending 104 starters to post.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, sons Jack and Jeff, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
