The final Future Wager on the 94th edition of the Hambletonian at the Meadowlands Racetrack will open its fourth and final pool opened on Thursday (August 1) at 11:00 a.m.
The pool will remain open until Saturday (August 3) at post time of the first elimination and/or heat of the Hambletonian, which has been scheduled as Race 8 and carries an approximate post time of 2:55 p.m. (EDT).
A winning ticket pays the closing odds in the pool before the first elimination of the Hambletonian (Race 8).
This is the final of four pools opened in advance of the Hambletonian, held Saturday, August 3, at the Meadowlands. Of the 101 trotting colts eligible for the $1 million Hambletonian, just 16 entered to race.
The Marcus Melander-trained quartet of trotters – Greenshoe, Green Manalishi S, Gimpanzee and Gerry – has earned a combined $1.9 million to date, and it’s no surprise that Greenshoe has been made the Future Wager favourite at 2-1.
The first Future Wager poll closed with Indiana-sired Swandre The Giant favoured at 2-1, but the Ron Burke-trained Hambo hopeful is now 12-1.
The second Future Wager Pool closed with a drastic shift to the lightly-raced Greenshoe, whose two winning efforts in New Jersey Sire Stakes events were nothing short of dominant. The colt offered 3-5 odds at closing time. Greenshoe remained the favourite in Pool 3 and closed at 8-5.
Wagering will be available at racetrack and online sites throughout North America and internationally, and wagering for the final pool will close on Saturday, August 3 at post time of the first elimination/heat.
Real-time odds, pool data and updates on field participants for the 2019 Hambletonian wagers and current odds will be shown on various simulcast shows including at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
The 14 horses assigned odds in the pool are listed in alphabetical order below. The mutuel field, No. 15, will consist of Reign Of Honor and Summit In Sight.
The minimum future wager is $1 and all future wagers are win only. The winner of each pool will be determined by the official first-place finisher in the 2019 Hambletonian final heat.
The Hambletonian Future Wager will be set-up in the tote system as one separate event.
