Western Fame has been installed as the 5-2 favourite for a $30,000 Great Northeast Open Series (GNOS) race Saturday night (August 3) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Western Fame will start from Post 3 for driver Simon Allard in the dash, which has been carded as Race 10. Pocono’s 14-race Saturday program will get underway at 7 p.m.

The millionaire son of Western Ideal earned the bulk of his seasonal bankroll ($500,000K+) during the Levy Series at Yonkers Raceway (he won the $664,000 Levy final on April 20). Western Fame is trained by Pocono’s leading conditioner, Rene Allard, for the partnership of Go Fast Stable, Stephen Klunowski, B & I Stables LLC, and Gil Short.

Rocknroll Hanover gelding Scott Rocks has been installed as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line. The Hunter Oakes trainee will start from Post 4 for driver Tyler Buter.

Josh Parker pupil Tiger Thompson N has drawn the rail for driver George Napolitano Jr. The Big Jim gelding is the leading point-earner to date in the preliminary rounds of the GNOS. The Kiwi import is heading into his Saturday assignment off of a 1:49.4 victory at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Completing the field, in morning line order, will be Prairie Panther (PP6, Marcus Miller, 9-2), Always At My Place (PP7, Eric Carlson, 6-1), Proper One (PP5, Joe Poliseno, 8-1) and Havefaithinme N (PP2, Anthony Napolitano, 12-1).
