The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association has announced the winners of the organization’s 2020 Collegiate Scholarships.
This year, the MSOA is awarding a record $19,000 to the sons and daughters of the group’s members that are furthering their education at various regional institutions.
The MSOA Board of Directors $5,000 scholarship goes to Brooke Schoeffel, who will be a junior this fall at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Psychology. Brooke is the daughter of Steve and Kathy Schoeffel.
Hanvoer Shoe Farms donated a breeding to Donato Hanover, and the $5,000 Hanover scholarship is being awarded to Mikayla Wenmoth. Mikayla will be a freshman at Edinboro University this fall, studying Education. She is the daughter of Mitch and Erin York.
The Winbak Farm/Heston Blue Chip Scholarship, a $5,000 award from a donated breeding, goes to Emily Williams. Emily, the daughter of Richard and Susan Williams, is a sophomore at Juniata College. She is majoring in a Pre-Veterinary curriculum.
Longtime MSOA Scholarship partner CSC Insurance presents its 2020 award to Meadow Twaddle. Meadow, the daughter of Tim and Sophia Twaddle, will be a freshman this fall at Washington & Jefferson College, majoring in Biology. The CSC Insurance Scholarship is valued at $2,500.
The Randy Ringer Stable donated multiple breedings to the stallion If I Can Dream to benefit the fund, and $1,500 in scholarship money has been divided among Mackenzie Wenmoth, Rielly Steuernagel and Taylor Riegle.
Mackenzie Wenmoth, the daughter of Mitch and Erin York and twin sister of Mikayla, will be attending Edinboro University this fall. She plans to major in Early Childhood Education.
Steuernagel will be a senior this fall at Allegheny College, majoring in Theater. He is the son of James Steuernagel and Tiffany Prem.
Riegle will enter her freshman year this fall at the University of Kentucky, where she will major in Biology. Riegle is the daughter of Bruce and Diana Riegle.
“This is a record year for our scholarship program,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “This is one of the best parts of our job, having the ability to help these young people reach their goals. We couldn’t do it without the support of all of our partners, Hanover Shoe Farms, Winbak Farm, CSC Insurance and Randy Ringer.”
