Published: July 30, 2019 10:12 am EDT

Opening-heat post positions have been drawn for the $1 million Hambletonian, which will be contested this Saturday (August 3) at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The connections of 16 three-year-old trotters entered their charges to contest the Hambletonian, therefore the opening heat will feature a pair of eight-horse divisions.

The top five finishers from each opening-heat division will return later in race card to contest the $1-million final (post time 5:14 p.m.). The final will be featured during a live broadcast that will be aired on the CBS Sports Network from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

The Hambo is heats this year, top 5 finishers from each division advance to the final. Next year, they're going back to having elims the week before so there will no longer be heats starting next year.
