Timothy Osborn Passes

Horseman Timothy J. Osborn, 66, passed away on July 25 at his home in Manasquan, NJ.

Born and raised in Napoleon, Mich., Osborn was the fourth of 10 children. A decorated noncommissioned officer, he received numerous medals for his service in the Vietnam War, including a Bronze Star for heroic achievement.

He became an accomplished horseman and member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association and the USTA.

Osborn and his wife, Bonnie, travelled to the east coast and later pursued their dream of ranching in the Colorado mountains. An inspiration to those who knew him, he loved to share his knowledge of horses, cattle, agriculture and nature.

Osborn is survived by his children, Kate (Slade) Elkins and Jason; grandchildren, Asher Elkins and Ava Elkins; siblings, David (Cathy), Gary (Janie), Jan, Nancy (Mike) Kastle, Jon (Darlene), Julie (Doug) Rideout, and Anne; and a number of extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; parents, Carlton and Janet (Shaw); and brothers, Gregory and Frank.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
