MSOA Announces Scholarship Winners

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to announce the winners of its 2019 Collegiate Scholarships.

This year, more than $17,000 is being awarded to seven students that are the sons and daughters of MSOA members.

The $5,100 Uncle Peter Scholarship, presented by Green Acquisition Corporation, has been awarded to Brooke Schoeffel, the daughter of Steve and Kathy Schoeffel. Brooke will be sophomore Biology major at the University of Pittsburgh this fall.

A $5,000 scholarship, presented by the Board of Directors of the MSOA, goes to Casey Hite, the daughter of Wayne and Trudy Hite. Casey will be a senior majoring in Corporate Communication at Penn State-Fayette.

Katie Babirad and Emily Williams will share the $4,200 Explosive Matter Scholarship, presented by Hanover Shoe Farms. Katie, the daughter of Dana Phillips, will be a senior Nursing student at Penn Commercial, while Emily, the daughter of Richard Williams, will be a freshman at Juniata College this fall.

The $2,500 CSC Insurance Options Scholarship will be split between K. Bryce Hite and Brandon Myers. Bryce, the son of Kris Hite, will be a junior this fall at the Florida Institute of Technology, studying Biomedical Engineering. Brandon, the son of Charles Myers, will be a freshman in the Engineering program at Penn State Fayette.

The $1,000 Barry C. Betts Memorial Scholarship, presented by the Scott Betts Training Stable, has been awarded to Sara Zidek. Sara, the daughter of Jeff Zidek, will be a senior this fall at the College of Wooster, studying Neuroscience.

“There were so many worthy students this year,” said Rich Gillock, MSOA President. “Thanks to all of our partners in this program, we are able to help seven different families this year with their college expenses. Every year, this program continues to grow, and we at the MSOA are proud to be able to offer these scholarships.”

The awards will be presented in the winner’s circle at te Meadows on Adios Day, Saturday, July 27.
