Kawartha Downs will celebrate its 44th anniversary this Saturday with lots of fun activities scheduled to mark the occasion.
The always-popular Hands On Horses will be back to provide lucky patrons with a ride around the racetrack behind one of the beautiful Standardbreds. There will be free birthday cupcakes for all in attendance as well as KD hats and t-shirts tosses after every race.
Memorbilia from the Hie family’s long history of racing at Kawartha Downs will be on display which will show how much racing has changed at the five-eighths mile oval in those four decades and what has remained the same.
A trackside dinner featuring grilled chicken on a bun, salad, dessert and a drink is available for $12 total. The track offers fun for the whole family with the kids’ activity room on the second floor, a meet and greet horse beside the grandstand and draws and prizes for kids and adults. Live harness racing starts at 7:00 p.m.
