Denis Hebert Passes

Trot Insider has learned that longtime assistant trainer Denis Hebert, 51, passed away Tuesday, July 28 during the early evening hours after a courageous year-long

battle with cancer.

Hebert, who passed away at the St. Joseph Health Centre in Guelph, Ont., had been working as an assistant trainer for Mark Austin. He was a well known individual at many tracks and served as assistant trainer to Ben Baillargeon for 10 years.

Hebert is survived by his daughter Melanye, mother Henriette, father Dawson, brother Andre and two sisters Sylvie and Chantal. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Trot Insider will provide an update in regard to visitation and funeral arrangements as soon as they are finalized.

Denis only had one enemy - CANCER. He fought against it for years and he thought he won but unfortunately, he did not. You will be missed Denis. We will certainly miss your visit on January 1st as you were always there for a chat and a laugh!
