On Saturday, July 28, ‘Guns & Hoses - The Ultimate Challenge’ is set to return to Hoosier Park Racing & Casino for the eighth year in a row.
Madison County police departments will once again challenge Madison County fire departments in the annual charity fundraiser benefitting the Madison County Fire Rescue House. The evening includes a series of friendly competitions between the departments and a community fair featuring first responder appreciation, live racing, and more. The event will take place outside near Hoosier Park’s race track starting at 5:30 p.m., and is free to the public.
‘Guns & Hoses’ will feature carnival food, games, activities, and live racing with a first-race post time of 6:30 p.m. Guests will have an opportunity to donate to Madison County Fire Rescue House through a Pass the Boot collection and a Give $5 Get $5 free slot play promotion. Additionally, Hoosier Park will make a $2,500 donation directly to the organization.
As part of the Guns & Hoses event, Madison County’s police departments and fire departments will compete in a series of fun challenges including a Fire and Police Sulky Race, First Responder Tricycle Race, Bounce Horse Race, Donut Speed-Eating Contest, and a Tug of War contest.
Saturday, July 28 is also designated as First Responder Appreciation Night at Hoosier Park. All first responders will receive $10 in free slot play when they visit Trackside Club Centaur with a valid credential.
“We’re ready for the ultimate showdown between Madison County’s Police and Fire Departments. Guns & Hoses is one of our community’s biggest fundraising events and a great time for the whole family,” said Kristin Lennis, promotions and events manager for Hoosier Park. “We encourage everyone to come out and support our local heroes as they battle it out in this fierce but friendly competition.”
Madison County Fire Rescue House, the organization benefitting from the annual event, provides victims of domestic house fires, natural disaster, or other personal difficulties with temporary housing, assistance, and inspiration in a safe and supportive environment. The goal of the organization is to leave no family without a place to call home in a time of need. More information about the Fire Rescue House can be found at firerescuehouse.org.
